Public Policy Initiatives

PTDA relies on its memberships in the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) to represent PTDA and its members in public policy and government relations.

Through these organizations, PTDA is active in supporting efforts to pass or amend legislation to address the following priority issues. Visit the Government Relations section of the NAW web site or the Advocacy section of the NAM web site.

2016 Election Center

As a voter and an employer, you can have an impact on who sets the agenda in Washington and in your local area. Visit the recently re-designed 2016 NAM Election Center webpage for information on candidates and issues.

Voter Registration, Absentee Ballots and Early Voting

Data compiled by the U.S. Census Bureau has revealed that millions of registered voters who are private sector employees fail to cast ballots in elections for high public office at all levels of government, and that a significant portion of them—perhaps as high as 30 percent—fail to vote because they are either out of town or simply too busy. It is vital that business people including wholesaler-distributors and their supply chain partners vote. In view of the effect government policy can have on your company and the way you manage it, it is simply a bad idea from a business perspective to leave any portion of the political power of our industry on the sidelines in any election. To register to vote, learn about early voting procedures in your state, and to obtain an absentee ballot, please go to: http://www.naw.org/govrelations/vote.php

EU Monitoring Reports

Through our partnership with our European affiliate, EPTDA, we provide members with access to up-to-date news and reports on the developments in key European Union policy areas for the PT/MC industry. If you're doing business in the European Union, policy areas--such as environment, energy, trade and consumer protection--can affect your competitiveness and profitability.

Access the exclusive PTDA member login  to the EPTDA website at www.eptda.org and learn more about EU legislation.

Initiatives to Stop Counterfeit Goods

PTDA and EPTDA jointly support and promote among their members the highest standards of quality, authenticity, legality, safety and ethics in the supply of industrial products and equipment and do not condone the distribution of illegal counterfeit product.

Visit the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) site for detailed information regarding U.S. federal anti-counterfeiting legislation.
