Volunteer Networking Overview

Volunteers are critical to PTDA’s success, donating time and expertise to develop programs that benefit distributor and manufacturer members as a whole.

In exchange for their service, PTDA volunteers enhance their own professional development and benefit their company by:

  • Expanding their personal and professional network during meetings and relaxed social events.
  • Learning and defining industry best practices.
  • Providing front-line input to ensure that their companies’ dues investments are being used wisely.

Rewards of volunteering with PTDA include:

  • Informal networking with executives from the industry’s leading companies.
  • A support network of professionals who understand and face the same challenges.
  • Exposure to how other organizations work and proven ideas to apply professionally.
  • Access to up-to-date information on key industry issues and trends.
  • Development of personal leadership and consensus-building skills.
  • Recognition as a leader committed to industry.
  • Personal satisfaction from giving back to the industry.

Volunteer Opportunities

Standing committees are:

  • Charged with implementing the association’s strategic objectives as part of an ongoing commitment.
  • Recommend projects to the Board of Directors, work with staff to implement approved programs and provide general oversight for ongoing assignments.
  • Meet face-to-face twice a year (in conjunction with the PTDA Industry Summit and in first quarter); all other work completed by conference call and e-mail.

Task forces are:

  • Utilized by standing committees and the board to ensure specific, functional expertise is used in developing PTDA programs and services.
  • Issue-specific work groups tasked with completing a specific assignment within a short time frame.
  • Complete work via conference calls and e-mail.
