Leadership Development Conference
Habits of Great Leadership
Welcome & Introductions, 9:00 a.m. - 9:15
a.m.
A Great Boss Is All That Matters, 9:15 a.m. -10:00
a.m
This is a fast-paced look into what it takes to be a great boss, how to
find one, how to be one, how to avoid those who are not one, and why the
rewards and consequences of boss choices are the most significant
factors in your career.
Beyond Active Listening, 10:00 a.m. -10:45 a.m.
Enhance your working relationships by employing steps of active
listening (AL): comprehending, retaining and responding to another
person’s communications by being totally attentive while
listening. Find out how reflective listening (RL) takes AL further. This
workshop provides some simple techniques to improve RL.
Break, 10:45 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Identifying and Utilizing the "Fox" in Every
Organization, 11:00 am-12:00 noon
Noted sales training expert (and former client of In’s &
Out’s) Jim Holden introduced the concept of the “fox”
in sales -process training through his methodologies and many books on
the subject of effective selling. Holden’s approach inspired this
workshop, which does not teach Holden’s methods but will improve
your skills at finding and capitalizing on the foxes (the sometimes
subtle but critical influencers affecting decisions) in your life.
Lunch, 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m.
Leaders Ask More Than Tell, 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
– Chinese proverb.
Giving instruction, training, and conveying or confirming intent can be
accomplished by “third-party” questioning, indirect
communications, and other forms of inquiry. Through the use of various
course instructional devices, multi-media tools and interactive
learning, participants refine their ability to lead by questioning.
Your Lips Say “Yes” But Your Body Language Says
it All, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Kinesics – nonverbal communication – is sometimes more
powerful than the spoken word. Whether in business settings, social
gatherings or intimate one-to-one exchanges, our bodies give away a lot
more information than people sometimes realize. This audio-visual
presentation provides examples of body language and gives attendees
practice at “reading” fellow attendees through casual and
relaxed exercises.
Break, 3:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Do What You Say, Say
What You Do, 3:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.
The power of communication in leadership cannot be overstated. So why do
so many leaders fail to communicate; and why does so much communication
fail to lead? This workshop explores the disconnect that exists from
what people say, what others hear, and how each party’s action can
easily be misunderstood. It also takes into account how methods of
communications have changed, the profound generational impact that
results and what you need to know to avoid being misunderstood.
Managing Isn't Leading, 4:15 p.m. - 5:00
p.m.
There are times when managing is required. Leading is an entirely
different process as demonstrated by characteristics of responsibility,
personality style, relationships with others, self-awareness, and
attitude toward goals. Audience members are teamed in a game-show format
to compete in identifying the traits of managers versus leaders.
Friday,
March 16

Experience first-hand the power of visual communications
as a facilitator takes you through the process of interpreting images as

facilitated discussion with:
The Art of Effective Communications, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00
p.m.
This engaging session illustrates how your communication style shapes
your relationships both inside and outside of the workplace. A
