PTDA and FPDA Co-Locate 2009 Conferences
Chicago, Ill. -- Oct. 31, 2006 -- The Power Transmission Distributors
Association (PTDA) and Fluid Power Distributors Association (FPDA) today
announced that they will co-locate their 2009 conferences.
The PTDA 2009 Industry Summit and FPDA 2009 Fall Meeting will be held
over the same series of dates and will feature shared keynote
presentations, breakout sessions and some social events.
Preserving each association’s brand equity and member
experience is a top priority for PTDA and FPDA’s elected
leadership and staff, leading to the decision to co-locate rather than
merge the meetings.
Each event will retain its own name, registration process and
presence on site, as well as separate welcome receptions and other
networking events.
In endorsing the co-location concept, the Boards of Directors of both
organizations recognized the clear benefits for their respective
memberships:
--Enhanced networking with representatives from a closely aligned
market segment.
--Improved educational programming.
--Upgraded conference facilities and social events.
--Opportunity to maintain attendance while keeping fees reasonable,
particularly in light of continued industry consolidation.
According to Mary Sue Lyon, PTDA’s executive vice president,
“Co-locating the summit will allow PTDA to share the investment in
hiring speakers and offer top-notch educational content to our members,
while maintaining the integrity of core networking at our signature
event. Both associations represent the distribution channel for
two segments of the motion technologies industry, providing a clear
basis for collaboration.”
Kathy DeMarco, executive director of FPDA notes, “The FPDA has
embraced collaboration with like-minded associations such as PTDA as a
means to bring more value to our membership, and is looking forward to
this co-located event with much anticipation.”
Initial conversations between the two organizations were driven by
PTDA member interest in co-locating meetings with related distributor
associations, expressed at the association’s Town Hall meeting in
2004. The concept was further validated by strong member support
in PTDA’s 2005 Needs Assessment/Member Satisfaction
Survey.
The PTDA 2009 Industry Summit and FPDA 2009 Fall Meeting will be held
in San Diego, Calif., at the Hilton San Diego (opening in 2008), from
Oct. 22 – 24. The schedule and program development for the
2009 events will be overseen by a joint planning committee.
