PTDA Releases Market Outlook Report Data for June 2006
Chicago, Ill. -- August 11, 2006 -- The Power Transmission
Distributors Association (PTDA) today released the June trend data for
distributors and manufacturers of power transmission/motion control
(PT/MC) products.
In June, U.S. distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC
products rose 10.8 percent as compared to sales for January through June
2005. Sales increased 2.8% percent over the previous month and
were up 10.9 percent as compared to June 2005.
Days sales in accounts receivables fell 1.6 percent as compared to
May 2006 and decreased 0.2 percent as compared to the same month last
year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio in June was 9.6,
compared to 9.5 in 2005.
For June, the confidence level of U.S. distributors rose to 7.7 from.
7.3 in May on a 10-point scale.
Canadian distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products
grew 9.9 percent as compared to sales for January through June
2005. Sales increased 0.9 percent over the previous month and grew
14.0 percent as compared to June 2005.
Days sales in accounts receivables rose 0.9 percent from May 2006 and
fell 2.8 percent as compared to the same month last year.
Annualized sales to inventory ratio in June was 8.6, compared to 7.9 in
2005.
For June, the confidence level of Canadian distributors increased to
7.5 from 6.8 on a 10-point scale.
In June, U.S. manufacturers’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC
products were up 7.4 percent as compared to sales for January through
June 2005. Sales gained 5.7 percent over the previous month and
rose 7.6 percent as compared to June 2005. As compared to May,
sales of mounted bearings, unmounted bearings, standard industrial
motors, variable speed drives, positioning system/linear motion
products, mechanical drive systems and other PT products, clutches and
brakes, and shaft couplings increased. Sales of gear products
decreased.
Year-to-date orders of PT/MC products from U.S. manufacturers grew
8.7 percent as compared to the same period in 2005. June orders
climbed 11.3 percent from May, and were up 8.5 percent as compared to
June 2005. Annualized sales to inventory ratio in June was 9.6,
compared to 10.1 in 2005.
For June, the confidence level of U.S. manufacturers held steady at
5.6 on a 10-point scale.
Canadian manufacturers’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products
grew 2.4 percent as compared to sales for January through June in
2005. Sales were down 0.2 percent over the previous month and
gained 1.0 percent as compared to June 2005. As compared to May,
sales of mounted bearings, standard industrial motors, variable speed
drives, gear products, mechanical drive systems and other PT products,
clutches and breaks, and shaft couplings increased. Sales of
unmounted bearings and positioning systems/linear motion products
decreased.
Annualized sales to inventory ratio in June was 8.3, compared to 7.9
in 2005.
For June, the confidence level of Canadian manufacturers was up 5.2
from 5.1 in April on a 10-point scale.
