PTDA Releases Market Outlook Report Data for February 2006
Chicago, Ill. -- April 5, 2006 -- The
Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) today released the
February trend data for distributors and manufacturers of power
transmission/motion control (PT/MC) products.
In February, U.S. distributors’
year-to-date sales of PT/MC products rose 11.1 percent as compared to
sales for January through February 2005. Sales increased 8.9
percent over the previous month and were up 10.1 percent as compared to
February 2005.
Days sales in accounts receivables
decreased 4.3 percent as compared over January 2006 and were down 2.5
percent as compared to the same month last year. Annualized sales
to inventory ratio in February was 9.0, compared to 9.4 in
2005.
For February, the confidence level of
U.S. distributors rose to 7.0 from 6.8 in January on a 10-point
scale.
Canadian distributors’
year-to-date sales of PT/MC products grew 11.7 percent as compared to
sales for January through February 2005. Sales were up 9.4 percent
over the previous month and increased 9.3 percent as compared to
February 2005.
Days sales in accounts receivables
decreased 3.8 percent over January 2006 and were down 0.3 percent as
compared to the same month last year. Annualized sales to
inventory ratio in February was 8.3, compared to 8.0 in 2005.
For February, the confidence level of
Canadian distributors fell to 6.8 from 7.0 in January on a 10-point
scale.
In February, U.S. manufacturers’
year-to-date sales of PT/MC products grew 10.7 percent as compared to
sales for January through February 2005. Sales were up 7.5 percent
over the previous month and increased 5.6 percent as compared to
February 2005. As compared to January, sales of mounted bearings,
unmounted bearings, standard industrial motors, positioning
system/linear motion products, gear products, mechanical drive systems
and other PT products, clutches and brakes, and shaft couplings
increased. Sales of variable speed drives decreased.
Year-to-date orders of PT/MC products
from U.S. manufacturers grew 11.8 percent as compared to 2005.
February orders increased 9.4 percent over January and were up 11.0
percent as compared to February 2005. Annualized sales to
inventory ratio in February was 9.8, compared to 10.8 in
2005.
For February, the confidence level of
U.S. manufacturers remained flat at 5.6 on a 10-point scale.
Canadian manufacturers’
year-to-date sales of PT/MC products increased 4.9 percent/ as compared
to sales for January through February in 2005. Sales grew 11.3
percent over the previous and were up 5.2 percent as compared to
February 2005. As compared to January, sales of unmounted
bearings, variable speed drives, positioning systems/linear motion
products, gear products, and clutches and brakes increased. Sales
of mounted bearings, standard industrial motors, mechanical drive
systems and other PT products, and shaft couplings decreased.
Annualized inventory turnover in
February was 8.1, compared to 7.1 in 2005.
For February, the confidence level of
Canadian manufacturers fell to 5.2 from 5.3 in January on a 10-point
scale.
