PTDA Releases Market Outlook Report Data for January 2006
Chicago, Ill. -- March 8, 2006 -- The Power Transmission Distributors
Association (PTDA) today released the January 2006 trend data for
distributors and manufacturers of power transmission/motion control
(PT/MC) products.
In January, U.S. distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC
products rose 12.0 percent as compared to sales for January 2005 and
increased 5.9 percent over the previous month.
Days sales in accounts receivables decreased 3.4 percent as compared
over December 2005 but increased 0.2 percent as compared to the same
month last year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 8.4 in
January 2005 and 2006.
For January, the confidence level of U.S. distributors remained flat
at 6.8 on a 10-point scale.
Canadian distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products
increased 14.1 percent as compared to sales for January 2005 and were up
6.2 percent over the previous month.
Days sales in accounts receivables decreased 2.9 percent over
December 2005 and were down 4.0 percent over the same month last
year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 7.6 in January 2006,
as compared to 7.1 in January 2005.
For January, the confidence level of Canadian distributors rose to
7.0 from 5.8 in December on a 10-point scale.
In January, U.S. manufacturers’ sales of PT/MC grew 13.3
percent as compared to sales for January 2005 and increased 6.1 percent
over the previous month. As compared to December, sales of mounted
bearings, unmounted bearings, standard industrial motors, variable speed
drives, positioning systems/linear motion products, gear products,
mechanical drive systems and other PT products, clutches and brakes, and
shaft couplings increased.
Year-to-date orders of PT/MC products from U.S. manufacturers grew
10.3 percent as compared to 2005; January orders increased 9.5 percent
over December. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 9.2 in
January 2006 as compared to 8.1 in January 2005.
For January, the confidence level of U.S. manufacturers increased to
5.6 from 5.5 in December on a 10-point scale.
Canadian manufacturers’ sales of PT/MC products increased 4.6
percent as compared to sales for January 2005 and grew 12.6 percent over
the previous month. As compared to December, sales of mounted
bearings, unmounted bearings, standard industrial motors, positioning
systems/linear motion products, gear products, mechanical drive systems
and other PT products, clutches and brakes, and shaft couplings
increased. Sales of variable speed drives decreased.
Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 7.0 in January 2006 as compared
to 6.7 in January 2005.
For January, the confidence level of Canadian manufacturers increased
to 5.3 from 5.1 in December on a 10-point scale.
