PTDA Releases Market Outlook Report Data for December 2005
Chicago, Ill. -- February 3, 2006 -- The Power Transmission
Distributors
Association (PTDA) today released the December 2005 trend data for
distributors and manufacturers of power transmission/motion control
(PT/MC) products.
In December, U.S. distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC
products
rose 10.7 percent as compared to sales for January through December
2004. Sales decreased 2.2 percent over November but were up
9.3
percent as compared to December 2004.
Days sales in accounts receivables increased 3.9 percent as compared
over November 2005 and were flat as compared to the same month last
year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 7.7 in December
2005, as
compared to 7.9 in December 2004.
For December, the confidence level of U.S. distributors remained flat
at
6.8 on a 10-point scale.
Canadian distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products
increased
11.0 percent as compared to sales for January through December
2004.
Sales decreased 6.1 percent over the previous month and were up 10.2
percent as compared to December 2004.
Days sales in accounts receivables increased 7.2 percent over
November
2005 but decreased 3.6 percent over the same month last year.
Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 7.5 in December 2005, as
compared to 7.2 in December 2004.
For December, the confidence level of Canadian distributors fell to
5.8
from 6.5 in November on a 10-point scale.
In December, U.S. manufacturers’ sales of PT/MC increased 9.6
percent
as compared to sales for January through December 2004. Sales fell
9.1
percent over the previous month and decreased 2.1 percent as
compared
to December 2004. As compared to November, sales of mounted
bearings, standard industrial motors, variable speed drives and
shaft
couplings increased. Sales of unmounted bearings, positioning
systems/linear motion products, gear products, mechanical drive
systems and other PT products, and clutches and brakes decreased.
Year-to-date orders of PT/MC products from U.S. manufacturers grew
11.2 percent as compared to 2004. December orders were down
9.1
percent over November and decreased 0.7 percent as compared to
December 2004. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 9.6 in
December 2005 as compared to 11.9 in December 2004.
For December, the confidence level of U.S. manufacturers decreased
to
5.5 from 5.6 in November on a 10-point scale.
Canadian manufacturers’ sales of PT/MC products increased 3.4
percent
as compared to sales for January through December in 2004. Sales
fell
19.6 percent over the previous month and decreased 1.0 percent as
compared to December 2004. As compared to November, sales of
variable speed drives and shaft couplings increased. Sales of
mounted
bearings, unmounted bearings, gear products, mechanical drive
systems
and other PT products, and clutches and brakes decreased.
For December, the confidence level of Canadian manufacturers
decreased
to 5.1 from 5.2 in November on a 10-point scale.
