PTDA 50th Anniversary Industry Summit Focused on Possibilities
Chicago, Ill. – May 5, 2010 – Since its founding
in 1960, the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) has
hosted an annual Industry Summit. Even after 50 years, the leading
association for the industrial power transmission/motion control (PT/MC)
distribution channel continues to deliver a substantial program that
provides attendees with takeaways they can implement immediately upon
returning to the office.
The 50th Anniversary Industry Summit, to be held on October 21-23,
2010, at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Ariz., is no
exception. The program once again offers educational content that
enhances productivity, networking opportunities that bring together top
executives to cement relationships, and a condensed schedule of events
that makes the most out of attendees’ time away from the
office.
A Summit of Possibilities
Themed “A Summit of Possibilities,” the 50th Anniversary
Industry Summit is focused on growth. Mike Rayburn, the
“World’s Funniest Guitar Virtuoso,” sets the tone as
the opening keynote. An authority on personal development and
human potential, Rayburn uses his guitar and comedy to teach three
simple, powerful tools you can use immediately and forever to access
your unrealized potential, to look at old things in a new way and to
leap beyond your perceived limitations.
Alan Beaulieu of the Institute for Trend Research returns to help
make sense out of the unchartered territory presented in our current
economy. Beaulieu will discuss specific management objectives for
increasing profitability for the next few years as well as identify the
leading indicators for years to come.
Take Away Concrete Ideas from Four Concurrent
Sessions
According to Helen Yost, president of The Rowland Company and chair
of the PTDA 2010 Industry Summit Planning Committee, four concurrent
sessions at the Industry Summit deliver practical, tangible and relevant
information for capitalizing on the opportunities presented in the
marketplace.
“I’m personally most looking forward to the educational
sessions this year;” said Yost. “I am fortunate that we have
another person from the company attending, because I personally would
like to go to all four sessions.”
- The most popular event at the 2009 Industry Summit, “Big
Issues for Small Distributors Forum,” is an open exchange of ideas
designed to assist CEOs and owners of small to mid-sized distribution
firms in managing their businesses more profitably.
- “Not Just Hot Air: Turning a Profit in Wind Energy” will
provide the inside scoop on the emerging wind energy market. A
representative from the American Wind Energy Association will provide a
snapshot of the industry, its future outlook and insight for the
requirements and expectations of the supplier community.
- “Prospecting for the Future: Web 2.0 for B to B
Marketing” will provide real-world applications for businesses
seeking to leverage Web technologies in marketing and sales. Led by
David Griffith, president and CEO of the Modern Group Ltd, the workshop
will get specific on how attendees can drive new business –
without a significant time commitment.
- Wayne Rivers, president of the Family Business Institute Inc., will
help companies retain (or rebuild) technical expertise by learning
techniques on how to start the knowledge transfer process in
“Preserving Competitive Advantage: Managing Your Corporate
Expertise.”
Accelerating Opportunities in Motion Control
As the customer perception of mechanical hardware and electronic
configurability merges into one of “Mechatronics,” there are
more opportunities than ever for PT/MC companies to expand into motion
control. In a new panel discussion, the steps involved in growing
a Mechatronics business will be simplified by experts hailing from the
four corners of motion control. In addition, the Motion Control Showcase
will introduce leading-edge products in the motion control arena.
PTDA Continues Outreach to the Next Generation of
Leaders
Once again, the Industry Summit provides opportunities for the future
leaders of the PT/MC industry to network with two events developed
specifically for executives 40 and younger. First, the Next Generation
After-Party will provide a relaxed atmosphere for conversation. A
Dialogue in the Desert will facilitate idea sharing among next
generation leaders.
