About PTDA

New PTDA Program Offers Low-Cost, High Value Networking

Chicago, Ill.—June 16, 2010—Responding to member demand for low-cost networking opportunities, the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) launched the new Nexus Series – specialty networking groups that meet monthly over the phone to help executives share and promote knowledge.

Offered as an exclusive member benefit, the Nexus Series was tested by a group of sales managers in 2009/2010 and is now offered in four functional areas.

Robert Korb, vice president of sales for OTP Industrial Solutions, shared his experience with the test group.

“Our monthly sales forum teleconferences have provided me with many good ideas and supported several of our company's sales initiatives during the last eighteen months. I have been pleased with the straightforward and positive exchange of information among noncompeting distributors throughout the U.S.  During our industry's constantly changing and challenging business climate, it is reassuring to discuss with my sales peers how they are coping and redirecting their companies to success.”

The Nexus Series is ideally suited to managers seeking new ideas and input on current initiatives. Participants tap the brainpower of their peers on monthly hour-long calls. A professional third-party facilitator ensures everyone has a chance to raise their issues and share their experiences. PTDA members can join one of four groups:

  • Sales Management Circle: A venue for upper management of small to mid-sized distribution firms to share ideas on motivating your sales force, differentiating your firm from your competitors and turning sales leads into orders.
  • Human Resources Circle: Strategize on recruiting qualified people, implementing retention strategies, developing current employees and managing the cost of healthcare.
  • Purchasing Circle: Share ideas on contract negotiations, the global supply chain and in-sourcing.
  • Operations Circle: Discuss strategies for managing inventory, increasing productivity and boosting on-time performance.
