Equip Your Staff with the Product and Application Knowledge They
Need to Meet Customer Expectations
Chicago, Ill. – July 24, 2008– The Power Transmission
Distributors Association (PTDA) today announced it will present a
hands-on Product Application Workshop, November 18-20, 2008 at Henry
Ford Community College in Dearborn, Mich. This three-day workshop
conducted in a hands-on lab environment, will give attendees the
opportunity to learn about the power transmission/ motion control
(PT/MC) components utilized in typical industrial applications and
processes so they can better assess and solve customers’
problems.
A recent survey by Purchasing magazine revealed that only 21 percent
of buyers rate their distributors as “excellent” when it
comes to technical support. Through the Product Application
Workshop, distributor members can equip their sales and support staff
with the technical knowledge they need to bring value to
customers. PTDA’s, the Product Application Workshop allows
sales personnel to experience first-hand, the application of power
transmission products.
“This is exactly the kind of training I was looking for when I
was a new hire, and could still benefit from it,” said Dena Kelly,
US Bearings & Drives (Vancouver, Wash.). “To be able to
use the products in real applications is a great idea and offers a
unique, more effective learning experience than traditional training
styles.”
The workshop will cover both mechanical and electrical
products. Attendees will gain a basic understanding of how
different PT/MC components work together at the generic level, an
opportunity to learn about the core products of the industry and learn
key terminology. Participants will locate, identify, detail,
size and verify specific hardware components and then assemble simple
component systems. For failed components, attendees will examine
the component or system to determine the most likely cause of the
failure.
Targeted at inside, outside and counter salespeople with one to three
years of experience in the power transmission and bearing industry, the
workshop offers attendees the product and application know-how to apply
when working with customers. The workshop can only accommodate 60
students and is available only to PTDA members. For more information on
