Committee Objectives and Projects

Employee Development Committee

Chair: Chris Curran, Climax Metal Products Company
Staff Liaison: Ann Arnott, vice president, programs & services

Scope: To investigate and develop methods for employee development that result in member companies’ ability to recruit and retain knowledgable and customer-focused employees.  This includes the recommendation of human resources policies, continuing education models and management practices that will assist member companies in differentiating themselves from their competition.  This committee is charged with the development of strategies to address the following PTDA Strategic Plan Objectives:

  • Develop and offer executive development management programs.
  • Develop effective hiring and buisness skills training programs.
  • Engage a NexGen group with PTDA (Gen Y and younger).


Industry Relations Committee

Chair: Jeff Lunn, KINECOR LP
Staff Liaison: Ann Arnott, vice president, programs & services

Scope: To identify and develop programs that will improve overall channel efficiency and enhance members’ relationships with channel partners.  The committee has responsibility for developing strategies to address the following PTDA Strategic Plan Objectives: 

  • Conduct market research to identify and resolve relationship issues; document these issues and share results with the membership.
  • Establish and encourage the adoption of operating formats(e.g., PPIF, POS, etc.)
  • Develop and distribute best practices and tools to streamline business processes and build joint business opportunities.


Marketing Committee

Chair:  Don Lanser, Emerson/U.S. Motors
Staff Liaison: Brigitte Lyons, manager, communications

Scope:  To develop resources to help members promote themselves as preferred suppliers to current and potential customers and to assist the association in the creation of marketing plans to increase the utilization of its programs and services.  It is the charge of this committee to develop strategies to address the following PTDA Strategic Plan Objectives:

  • Provide members with market trend information.
  • Create customized networking opportunities at the Industry Summit, through regional meetings, virtually (online), through distributor visits and through topical conferences, etc.; create networking opportunitites for future industry leaders.
  • Develop and implement an internal marketing campaign to communicate the value of PTDA programs and services, including educational opportunities and networking. 


Membership Committee

Chair: Michelle Riemer, Renold Jeffrey
Staff Liaison: Brenda Holt, director, membership services

Scope: To develop programs and activities to improve member satisfaction, retention and the recruitment of new members.  It is the responsibility of this committee to address the following PTDA Strategic Plan Objectives:

  • Conduct target marketing to non-participating members and prospective new members to communicate the value of networking and educational opportunities.
  • Identify problems and issues important to members.
  • Focus on attracting motion control members, while not losing focus on traditional members.


Technical Education Committee

Chair: Carlton C. Harvey, Jamaica Bearings Co., Inc.
Staff Liaison: Brenda Holt, director, membership services

Scope:  To investigate the development of programs/services/resources that address the product knowledge, end user industry information and application needs of member employees.   This includes the continual improvement of PTDA's signature product training resource programs (Power Transmission Handbook/Workbook and PT Interactive Online).   It is the responsibility of this committee to develop strategies to address the following PTDA Strategic Plan Objective:

  • Develop employees through product and technical training programs.


Canadian Conference Planning Committee

2009 Co-Chairs:  Ajay Bajaj, Rotator Products Limited and Paul Meo, NTN Bearing Corp. of Canada Ltd.
Staff Liaison: Dave Strutt, Canadian member liaison

Scope:  Develop program and recommend format changes for PTDA Canadian Conference.


Industry Summit Planning Committee

2010 Chair:  Helen Yost, The Roland Company
Staff Liaison: Erin Brown, coordinator, meetings

Scope:  Develop program and recommend format changes for PTDA Industry Summit; increase networking opportunities at the Industry Summit.
