New PTDA Foundation Vanguard Campaign Hits Targets
Eighteen PTDA Members Contribute more than $50,000 to Vanguard
Campaign
Chicago, Ill.--January 14, 2010--As 2009 drew to a close, the Power
Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) Foundation challenged the
association's members to lead the charge in linking young adults to
career paths in industrial distribution by "being in the
Vanguard." Eighteen employers rose to the occasion by making their
2010 PTDA Foundation contribution before the year ended, helping the
PTDA Foundation to surpass its Vanguard goal and raise $51,350.
"The 2010 Vanguard contributions show us just how many companies
understand the importance of reaching out, connecting with and preparing
young people to become our outstanding employees and leaders," said
Phyllis Russell, executive director of the PTDA Foundation. "I give my
sincere thanks to all 18 companies for supporting the PTDA Foundation
and its key initiative--Industrial Careers
Pathway® (ICP)."

The Vanguard campaign was a new initiative leading into 2010 to build
upon the success of the 2009 fund drive. Most notably in 2009,
IDC-USA and its members and the ISA Foundation lead the way with
contributions of $10,000 or more.
Along with the support of other Alliance Partners, distributors and
manufacturing partners, these gifts funded a number of advances in the
ICP program, including the redesigned www.IndustrialCareersPathway.org
and Elements of Industrial Distribution, a unique online curriculum on
the industrial distribution business model. The support in 2010
will help fund an overview of industry products and industrial
applications, a resource kit to supplement Elements of Industrial
Distribution and a data-based case to help spread the word about job
opportunities in the sector to educators, media, foundations, local
influencers, potential partners and government.
The Foundation's core initiative, Industrial Careers Pathway, is a
collaboration of industrial distribution associations working together
to recruit entry-level employees to the industrial distribution channel;
develop programs to teach business, technical and distribution basics;
and create affordable resources for current employee
development.
The PTDA Foundation, whose work is funded by donations, was founded
in 1982 to enhance knowledge, education, professionalism and
productivity within the power transmission/motion control (PT/MC)
industry.
The Foundation is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation
whose operations are funded by tax deductible contributions.
Contributions are tax deductible to the full amount allowed by law.
